Working closely with England Golf, Staining Lodge GC will be running a "Festival of Golf Week" as part of their Road To The Open initiative, in the lead up to the golf Courses 10th Anniversary. The Festival will give opportunities for new people to give golf a go or existing golfers to play more in lead up to The Open Championship down the road at Royal Birkdale. The week will include a range of free taster sessions in The Swing Studio and on the practice ground for targeted groups including: families, ladies and juniors. On the golf course the club will also be hosting 9 Hole, 5 Hole and 6 Hole Glow Golf competitions to appeal to all ages and abilities at subsidised costs. PGA Pro Tony Johnstone noted "We are trying to offer a wide range of activities to attract as many people to the golf course as possible." The Road to The Open initiative will conclude with an organised trip to Royal Birkdale on the final practise round before The Open Championship to give members and guests if The Lodge Golf Club an insight into how the worlds top players prepare for the tournament. It doesn't stop there though as a week later the golf course will host its first Open Competition, a 4BBB Stableford event, to celebrate Staining Lodge's 10th Birthday. Event Organiser Gavin Forsyth added "10 years has gone so quickly but we're looking for as many people to join us as possible for this Open event, which is open to anyone with a recognised handicap. The golf course is in best condition I've seen it in and we hope to welcome a large number of players."
